Depictio CLI Usage¶
Note about the CLI
The depictio-cli is a command line interface that allows you to interact with the Depictio backend. It is used to register projects information including workflow files metadata. The depictio-cli is currently in development and is not yet ready for production use.
Installation¶
See the installation guide for instructions on how to install the depictio-cli.
YAML Project Configuration¶
Minimal reference configuration example can be found here. Full reference configuration example can be found here.
Command Line Interface¶
The depictio-cli provides a set of commands organized into different groups. Each command has specific options and parameters. You can always use the --help
flag with any command to see its usage information.
Global Options¶
These options can be used with any command:
--verbose
,-v
: Enable verbose logging--verbose-level
,-vl
: Set verbose logging level (default: "INFO")
Standalone Commands¶
version¶
Displays the version of the depictio-cli.
Run Command¶
The run
command combines multiple Depictio commands into a single command for convenience. It executes the complete Depictio workflow: validate, sync, scan, and process data collections in sequence.
This command executes the full depictio-cli pipeline:
- Check server accessibility
- Check S3 storage configuration
- Validate project configuration
- Sync project configuration to server
- Scan data files
- Process data collections
Options:
Basic Configuration:
--CLI-config-path
: Path to the CLI configuration file (default: "~/.depictio/CLI.yaml")--project-config-path
: Path to the pipeline configuration file (default: "")--workflow-name
: Name of the workflow to be processed (optional)--data-collection-tag
: Data collection tag to be processed (optional)
Flow Control Options:
--skip-server-check
: Skip server accessibility check (default: False)--skip-s3-check
: Skip S3 storage check (default: False)--skip-sync
: Skip syncing project config to server (default: False)--skip-scan
: Skip data scanning step (default: False)--skip-process
: Skip data processing step (default: False)
Sync Options:
--update-config
: Update the project configuration on the server (default: False)
Scan Options:
--rescan-folders
: Reprocess all runs for the data collection (default: False)--sync-files
: Update files for the data collection (default: False)
Process Options:
--overwrite
: Overwrite the workflow if it already exists (default: False)
Output and Control:
--rich-tables
: Show detailed summary of the workflow execution (default: False)--continue-on-error
: Continue execution even if a step fails (default: False)--dry-run
: Show what would be executed without running it (default: False)
Examples:
Run the complete workflow:
depictio-cli run \
--CLI-config-path ~/.depictio/config.yaml \
--project-config-path ./my-project-config.yaml
Run with specific workflow and skip certain steps:
depictio-cli run \
--CLI-config-path ~/.depictio/config.yaml \
--project-config-path ./my-project-config.yaml \
--workflow-name my-workflow \
--skip-server-check \
--rich-tables
Dry run to see what would be executed:
depictio-cli run \
--CLI-config-path ~/.depictio/config.yaml \
--project-config-path ./my-project-config.yaml --dry-run
Update configuration and rescan all folders:
depictio-cli run \
--CLI-config-path ~/.depictio/config.yaml \
--project-config-path ./my-project-config.yaml \
--update-config \
--rescan-folders \
--continue-on-error

Common Workflows¶
Prerequisites¶
- Ensure you have the Depictio server running and accessible.
- Ensure you have the CLI configuration file set up (default location:
~/.depictio/CLI.yaml
). - Ensure you have a valid project configuration file (YAML format) ready for use.
- Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access the server and perform operations.
Setting Up a New Project¶
1. Create a project configuration file 2. Validate the project configuration
3. Sync the project configuration to the server
4. Scan files for the project
5. Process the data
Checking System Status¶
1. Check the CLI configuration
2. Check S3 storage configuration
3. Check server accessibility
